First Lady Goes to Craphole, CA
Somehow, UC Merced got Michelle Obama to speak at their graduation. Coming from Sticktown (#5 most violent, BABY!), I don't have much room to talk, but come on, Merced? That place is a dump. And it's UC Merced (no offense if you're reading this Lou, or any other graduate). It's a relatively new school, and...it's MERCED.
Apparently they bribed her to come there. By sending her 900 Valentines Day cards. Which, I mean, that would probably be a tell-tale sign that your city sucks really really bad and you're desperate. I mean, a place like L.A., they'd probably be like, "we're LA, we're too cool, you should have to send us 900 Valentines Day cards to get us to invite you." But this isn't the first time the city of Merced has annoyed someone into doing something. Apparently they bugged the University of California Board of Regents till they built a campus in thecraphole city. So although you live in a dump, you apparently know how to get what you want Merced - annoy the living hell out of someone till they do what you want. That's kind of like torture.
So in summation, Merced is full of a bunch of torture advocates.

All Is Quiet
I'm predicting a drop-off in my grades. Which is unfortunate, seeing as how I didn't necessarily slack off. Things just seemed harder this time around. And I guess, in all reality, I wasn't as focused as I could have been. But c'est la vie.
Expect silence on the blog for a bit. I need to rest before work starts.

That's What's Up - Fascinating Stories and Links
Prison > College - with the market sucking major cajones, and people struggling to get jobs, things are bleak. One college grad with an accounting degree says he would have rather gone to prison than pay for college. Debt is mounting, people are struggling all over, and I too am freaking out. via Jim
From the Warehouse to the NFL - dude is straight gully (in a financial sense). Kept the dream alive, kept working at the grades, kept working at the warehouse and made it to the league. Props
Staying Loyal - I used to dream about winning the lottery I never played. I imagined how I'd freak out on my boss and basically cause a ruckus. Oh the young and the stupid. This kid, however, basically won the lottery (got drafted to the NFL) and stayed true to his employer, Target, by working his shifts as scheduled. Ethics and principles are often left behind when fortunes change. We can all learn from this kid. By the way, the Target in downtown Minneapolis is off the hook. It's two stories and has an escalator for your shopping cart. I wish I had taken a picture
The Bo Sox were roiding it up?? - that's what a former player says. In the wake of the Manny Being Manny the Steroid user going on, Lou Merloni claims the organization taught the players how to use roids. Is Sweet Lou telling the truth? I don't really care. I'm so sick of hearing about steroids.
Obama Loves Battier - well not really, but he respected his leadership skills. And reflected that by sending out a text message through Battier's former teammate and Obama's current personal aide. H-Town, STAND UP via Jim
HISD: Ron Ron is not for the kids - So Artest got a sick mowhawk with a dope rockets logo trimmed up in it. And HISD won't let the kids rock it. Apparently it isn't neat and clean. Lame.

Wanna be the Sports Guy Bill Simmons - the epitome of a homer, but ultra entertaining, you can now be like him too. Write in superlatives and make weird references to all kinds of things. It will be awesome. Here's the madlib.

The ART of Second-Hand Embarassment
Who is embracing one-armed midgets and urban, suburban hip-hop settings (isn't that an oxymoron)?
How to wear your hat in the midwest, up north, down south, out west.
Global Cooling?
Should we trust the GOP?
Who was in the heeezy?
Will the worm turn?
Michael Steele (the real-life Michael Scott, it appears) has the answers.
thanks Jim.

Mr. Boom Dizzle Goes to Washington
The film covers the post World War II era in California, and how the rise of neighborhood oranizations eventually turned into the rival Crips and Bloods gangs. Forrest Whitaker provides the narration throughout the film. The PBS page can be found here. I've already set the DVR to record this.

What Goes Into That Crap I've Been Eating for Over a Month Straight Now
Finals means fast food galore. I feel like vomiting just writing I miss a home cooked meal, most particularly my home cooked meals. What I wouldn't give to have the time to make a nice salmon fillet, some rice, and some green beans.
Anyway, found out what the top 10 most common ingredients in fast food today.
Who'd have thunk, sodium, MSG, and high fructose corn syrup made the list. and I wonder why I'm pudgy.
everything written in the last two sentences was pure sarcasm.
in case you couldn't tell.
Actually, the fact that chicken is the most added ingredient actually is surprising. I'd have put money on "meat scraps" or "poop" before I picked chicken.
