Tyreke for Rookie of the Year (REKEROY)
Somewhere in this video, I make an appearance, popping a Kings jersey like a lunatic. 15 Seconds of fame. Except it aired on national TV during NBA All-Star Weekend's HORSE competition, the February King's highlight footage, and now this. So it's more like 45 seconds of fame.

Things I'm Excited About
Yeah, the Kings are who we thought they were. They suck. But there's going to be a bright future down the road. This team will get better and they will be competitive the entire season and they will not suck on the road.
With the All-Star game fast approaching, I thought I should make sure I represent my team to the fullest while in Dallas. Of course with the team being what it is who knows what happens with the personnel. But I am certain Tyreke is the brightest spot and will remain, so I got a #13, Tyreke Evans custom black jersey. I am beyond stoked.

We Are All Witnesses....To How Douchey Lebron Is
They lost. David Stern, the City of Cleveland, Nike, Vitamin Water....all of these people are crying into their drinks right now. After waltzing into the conference finals (they're in the Eastern Conference), the Craboliers (as Basketbawful likes to call them) finally met their match. Make all of the excuses you want: Lebron was their only player; they didn't have enough depth; blah blah blah blah. Fact of the matter is, they had the best record this year in the NBA. So don't give me that crap. But this isn't the regular season. This is a best of Seven series. And this team has flaws. Such as the Lebron: All Iso, All the Time trick by Mike Brown. Figure out how to slow that down and there's a good chance you can win. And that's what the Magic did.
Look, the Hawks are still young, and were injured throughout the series. The Pistons....a shell of their former selves who mostly looked disinterested during their series. The Magic, they are a legit team.
And they proved it last night when they closed out the Cavs. And then King Crab angrily stormed off the court. And out of the arena. And skipped the mandatory post-conference.
So there's his true colors. A little girl who takes his ball and goes home when things don't go his way. Who was all about joking around and laughing and being a general dick on the court during the regular season, then can't stay around and face the heat when he loses. We are all witnesses. Lebron ain't the king. He ain't ready to be the king. The king is bigger than that. Nah, Lebron is wearing a fake crown. And he just got outted for what he is. I'll grant that he's the best player in the NBA. I mean, I think it's not even close. But this game is the game. You gotta have respect for It, and for the players who play it. Lebron showed last night that he's all about himself. That's it.

Quote of Today
You might remember that when the Hornets lost in Dallas on Friday night despite Chris Paul's 42/9/7, Paul said: "It's not about how I do. It's about how we do." Well, CP3 proved himself wrong during Sunday's rematch with the Mavs in the Big Easy by going off for 31 points, 9 rebounds and 17 assists...pretty much single-handedly destroying Dallas in the process. And I don't mean just the team, I'm talking about the entire city of Dallas AND the entire 357-episode run of the TV series (retroactively).

This Gave Me the Chills
Somehow, I manage to play intramural basketball on Friday nights (so far). It's been fun. Although we lost a heart breaker on technical fouls. Also got my first and only bucket tonight. hahahahah. Nevertheless, I'm more of a fan than a player (that is an understatement requiring extreme emphasis on fan).
Saw this commercial while watching the Rookie Sophomore game tonight (recorded it). Pure awesome. The guys at Nike and Jordan definitely know how to make a commercial. Also, T-Mobile clearly hired a bunch of youngins to scream on every made basket. It's annoying.

Today We Remember a Great
And lose in a close one. At home. To the Jazz.
But the bigger news? Chris Webber's jersey was retired tonight.
Man I miss that era of King's basketball. We were actually good. Now?
We're like 11-40...or 11-41. or whatever. might as well lose them all. wins are few and far between.
But for now? for now we can reminisce about the good times.
oh, and Lebron's triple double got taken back. That puts a smile on my face.

DC Stand Up
I loathe Lebron. And he's been written about a lot on here.
Last night Lebron got called for a travel on a potential game tying play against the Wizards. And he nearly cried on the court. Guess when you're "King James" things just usually go your way. Well Lebron, not this time.
Dan Steinberg's DC Sports Blog has the coverage on Lebron's beef with Deshawn "I Can't Feel My Face" Stevenson, and what a crab dribble is (it's about as lame as it sounds).
Lebron on the travelling call.

Lebron on the travelling call.
"I don't know what he said I did," James said. "I was trying to get an explanation from him but he ended up running to the other side of the floor. It was a bad call. Like I said, I watched it in the [locker] room. I took a crab dribble, which is a hesitation dribble, and then two steps. Everybody, you all guys can watch it. The bad part about it was I was able to finish at the rim with contact, so it would have been a three-point play. So it's tough."Caron on the call.
"I definitely knew he traveled, but I didn't think they were gonna call it," Caron said. "You know, two years ago, looking in hindsight, it was the same thing that happened in the playoffs. And we get that call, who knows what would have happened with everybody healthy. But that was one of them situations in which a great player made a move, good officiation, and they called the call. And I was just like, 'Aw, man. There is a God. There is a God.' "And finally, Deshawn on Lebron (who was apparently heckling Lebron from the bench)
"I don't care," DeShawn said. "It's whatever. I don't like him. I don't like that dude."In other news, this girl in the airport next to me is really annoying and doesn't understand: a) airport delays, and b) how connecting flights work. How she continues to live will probably amaze me for the next few hours.

ESPN: Suckage Continues
Lets get this straight, I still watch ESPN, but I have witnessed its decline over the years.
This happened last night.
Wow. Lebron James blocked Yao Ming. And guess what? It made Sportscenter's top 10 plays at #2.
But mind you, Lebron's NBA player profile lists him at 6'8". Yao Ming's player profile puts him at 7'6". So, if all things were equal, Lebron would have to jump 10" higher if both players had an equal vertical (they do not). Yao jumps about 6" off the ground. Lebron likely has a vertical somewhere between 30-40" (just guessing).
But wait, do you remember this???
NATE ROBINSON BLOCKED YAO! Yes. Little Nate the Great blocked Yao Ming. Nate's NBA player profile lists him at 5'9". Yes. FIVE-FOOT-NINE INCHES. So that means, all things being equal, Nate had to jump TWENTY-ONE INCHES higher than Yao in order to block them (again, they clearly don't have an equal vertical). ESPN sucks. And everyone needs to stop jocking Lebron. Many have blocked Yao. It's not a big deal when a 6'8" dude does it. It is a big deal when a 5'9" dude does it.

H-Town Stand Up
Time to count that change in the couch cushions. T-Mac's Benz is for sale on Ebay
So I say we pool our money and go halfs on this bad boy (I use the term "halfs" loosely as I will be counting on you to fund the majority of this venture).
Reasons why we should get this car
1) Baby Blue Benz?! Holla
2) Custom = expensive
3) T-Mac
Reasons why we shouldn't get this car
1) Baby Blue Benz...really
2) Custom = not really that great
3) T-Mac. It might result in chronic injuries.

Not Meshing? Try Arts N Crafts
For the last month or so, I've spent life around a small group of people. Day in and day out. There's bound to be some tension at times. I feel like it's natural when you're surrounded by the same people. You get annoying to them, they get annoying to you. They steal your moose, you steal their laptop. It's how the game is played. I've been long-contemplating strategies on how to get along better. Perhaps a group activity would make things better. Naturally, a night at the bar sounds like it would do us all some good. But alas, it might have adverse consequences on the function of some of us the next day (read: hangovers). So that strategy may not be so good for team building. But then today, Jim emailed a solution straight from the playbook of the Phoenix Suns.
Did you see how they all came to the rescue of one another?! AMAZING. That's cause it's the NBA. And Amazing happens there. Or at least that's what those commercials keep telling me. You know, the ones with the piano music.
There it is. I mean, the old Suns team, they didn't like each other. They never would have come to the rescue of a fellow teammate. Oh wait...
And imagine the surprise when Jason Richardson gets there.
"you want me to do what with the team? We didn't do this crap with the Warriors or the Bobcats."
Well Mr. Richardson, while that would be a very accurate observation, that might also explain the losing that was going on with both organizations. And even if Richardson thinks it's weird, that won't stop Golden Boy Nash.
But the write of the article has such a bleak perspective on the situation.
In summation, arts n crafts makes for winners. Now where's my puff paint at?! I've got an exam tomorrow!

...they looked like one of the league’s unhappiest teams, forever searching for their identity. The perimeter players wanted to run again. O’Neal wanted to keep getting touches. Stoudemire, who wasn’t sad to see D’Antoni go, started pining for his old coach’s offense. Suns owner Robert Sarver even took a page from one of his Corporate America handbooks and reportedly held a bonding session that had the players cutting out pictures and building collages.Yes. "[C]utting out pictures and building collages." Imagine Shaq, STAT, Golden Boy Steve Nash, all sitting around, basically scrap-booking. The results are astonishing!

Read: ARTS N CRAFTS TIME! WOOOOOO. Break out the scissors!
More than anything, the Suns had tired of losing to the Spurs, and Nash was smart enough to say Wednesday he’ll welcome Richardson and Dudley “with open arms.”
But the write of the article has such a bleak perspective on the situation.
but doesn’t the party always end sometime?Pfff...NO Johnny. Not when you're the Phoenix Suns. When you're the Suns, there's always a party.

Why ESPN Sucks
Tim Legler and the other "NBA Fastbreak" guys were talking about Shaq's vintage performance the other night against Milwaukee . Then they were talking about whether or not Shaq would play on the next night against the Lakers. Typically, Terry Porter (the Suns' coach) rests Shaq on the second game of back-to-backs. Then Legler and the gang ripped Shaq and Porter, saying that he needs to start playing both games of back-to-backs. The thing is, I knew about his grandmother dying, so I was waiting for them to talk about it. But they never did. They just went on about Shaq saying he wasn't going to play last night.
Oh, then there was the Plaxico Burress shooting himself incident. ESPN was covering it, bringing you "breaking news" about the incident. But they were quick to tout their analysts out saying how bad it was for Plax to do this, and how he's got such a bad public image. They reported on his possible gun permit that he had, how it had expired, how there were problems with the hospital reporting on this, Antonio Pierce being subpeonaed, yada yada yada. What they didn't chose to bring up amongst their commentary? Oh maybe the part about teammate and fellow WR Steve Smith was robbed at gunpoint about a week before. Gee, I wonder why they were toting guns around. Oh, and where did this happen to Smith at?
Example:
Analyst 1: Well, Plaxico Burress shot himself. And he will likely be in serious trouble.
Studio Guy: Is there any indication of why he was carrying a gun that night?
Analyst 1: Good question Studio Guy. On November 25, his teammate, Steve Smith, was robbed at gun point outside of his home in New Jersey. One can expect that it was a motivating factor in why Plaxico had a gun with him.
Simple. It's not like Roger Fedderer was robbed in Switzerland at gun point while treking through the Alps. This was a teammate. On the other side of the river. Not hard to figure that one out guys. In conclusion. ESPN, not really that great at reporting.
The Suns played without Shaq (family funeral)Thanks to dime for staying up on this stuff and talking about it before the Milwaukee game even happened. But what's more concerning? Well that a b-ball blog/magazine with obviously less resources keeps up more with the news than ESPN, which is the largest sports news network (this is no discredit to Dime. I love the work they do. Always amazing and geared completely towards the user. And there was the time they dropped subscriptions for 81 cents after Kobe dropped 81 on the Raptors). It's the fact that ESPN may very well have known about Shaq's grandmother dying and chose to ignore it. Or they just didn't know. Either way, that's pretty sad, considering they're supposed to have all of these insiders in the NBA. That's pretty big news to overlook.

No kidding? But when the story first broke on Plaxico, ESPN wasn't trying to put two and two together. That's what irks me. Report the whole story. And when you offer these commentaries on television, think logically.
Giants receiver Steve Smith was the victim of an armed robbery in front of his home on Monday, Nov. 25. But contrary to a published report, the alleged perpetrator is not Smith's driver.

Finally a Win Worth Discussing
The Kings beat the Lakers last night. 113-101. WHAT?! I was shocked too. Even going into the fourth quarter, I worried that Darth-Kobe would be taking over and dropping buckets. But no such luck (if you're a FAKERS fan). Why did I post a picture of Jenn from the Royal Court dancers? Well mainly cause, 1) I sat next to her parents at a game a few years back (which was in the top level strangely enough), 2) she's been with the team forever, and 3) she's hot.
Back to the matter at hand. Why is the win worth noting? Because the Kings are
Lately I've been advocating for the destruction of the team. Trade Miller while he's got some value. Find a player who is worth being traded and throw Kenny (k-9) Thomas in there (he's of no use to us). Finally, surround the present young core (Donte Green, Jason Thompson, Kevin Martin, and Francisco) with some talent. Instruct John Salmons that although his stat line looks amazing, he needs to learn how to play team ball. I don't care if he fills up the stat sheet, I care if he gets the team involved. Beno needs to learn some D, but overall I'm glad we have a decent PG. Bobby Jackson, I love you man, but you just ain't the player you used to be. But it's good to have a fan-favorite, and a vet.
Anyway, you know it's a bad season when you get text messages from your friend saying, ''Mallofs [are] closing in on reality tv show. It's title 'rebuilding the king-dom'" and "we need Kobe."
Regardless, the Kings handed the infamous Kobe and the seemingly-unstoppable Lakers the 'L' last night behind 21 from both Salmons and Garcia. Awesome. The ball movement was good and we even got some Sportscenter coverage. Dope.
Also, something of note worth posting. Via Sactownroyalty, which is hands down the best Kings blog out there, rules for Fakers fans attending King's games at Arco.
1. Do not scream "Brad Miller sucks!" during the National Anthem.2. Chanting "defense" as a visiting fan in the minority isn't terribly useful.
3. If the game starts at 7PM, try to show up before 7:45. I don't want to have to help you understand that you're in the wrong row while Francisco Garcia is dribbling into the paint. It's not like you can blame the traffic.
4. No chanting "M.V.P." when your team is losing by 13 points with a minute left.
5. If your team loses, please do not begin hollering about championships or the standings. Your team lost. This is what we have just witnessed. We did not all show up to ARCO to discuss Lakers history. We're all aware of it, but we really really don't care after a Kings win.
Sactownroyalty, thanks for holding down all things Kings even when though it's been hard to watch. TZ and the gang are true fans and dope bloggers.

Big Ticket is Kind of a BIG JERK

Look at him, he's about to dunk on poor Glen "Big Baby" Davis' head. And that's his own teammate. What a jerk (yes, my lazy attempt at photoshopping a picture consisted of two searches, once cut, one paste, and a drag).
Actually, KG apparently yelled at the bench after they played an abysmally and blew the C's lead over the Trailblazers last night. The starters had to come back in and save the lowly bench.
Garnett had his own issues with Big Baby. After getting some tough love from KG when the C’s backups got worked over in the aforementioned Portland run, Baby had a meltdown on the bench and was literally crying and screaming at people …I don't know what's worse: making your own teammate cry, or the fact that your own teammate cried. Said Garnett after the game:
We gotta stay together man....I'm trying to inspire the guys, make sure we stay together that's allYes, inspire them by making them cry. I know whenever I need inspiration, I ask my friends to yell at me and say hurtful thing. Only then, when the tears are shed, am I at my best. The problem always seems to be that I can't see anything through the tears.
The reporter went on to ask KG about what he'd say to Big Baby.
I'll probably get real deep with him, try to understand what he('s) going through right now.Kevin, I'm not a detective, scientist or a psychologist; I'm just a lazy blogger. But I'm pretty sure you hurt the kid's feelings. Also, you caused him to cry on national TV, meaning you probably said something pretty jacked up. But then again, you're KG and you've turned into an arrogant jackass.
