Staying Loyal - I used to dream about winning the lottery I never played. I imagined how I'd freak out on my boss and basically cause a ruckus. Oh the young and the stupid. This kid, however, basically won the lottery (got drafted to the NFL) and stayed true to his employer, Target, by working his shifts as scheduled. Ethics and principles are often left behind when fortunes change. We can all learn from this kid. By the way, the Target in downtown Minneapolis is off the hook. It's two stories and has an escalator for your shopping cart. I wish I had taken a picture

The Bo Sox were roiding it up?? - that's what a former player says. In the wake of the Manny Being Manny the Steroid user going on, Lou Merloni claims the organization taught the players how to use roids. Is Sweet Lou telling the truth? I don't really care. I'm so sick of hearing about steroids.

HISD: Ron Ron is not for the kids - So Artest got a sick mowhawk with a dope rockets logo trimmed up in it. And HISD won't let the kids rock it. Apparently it isn't neat and clean. Lame.

Hasta Luego Ron, Hola Ron

As a Kings fan, I now have to say goodbye to Ron Artest. Good trade, so long as we get Donte Greene in the deal (can't say for sure until mid-August when he can actually be traded according to the Collective Bargaining Agreement). Greene was a madman in Summer League, going off in one game for 40 points (2 shy of the summer league record). He was good in Syracuse and will be a great addition to the rebuilding of the Kings. We also got Bobby Jackson back, albeit as a shadow of his former self who had won the sixth man of the year. He'll give consistent minutes as a backup and allows Bobby Brown and Sean Singletary to learn the ropes a bit slower. We also get a first round pick next year (which could serve as a trade piece, considering it will be a low pick if Houston plays anywhere near its new potential).

And Ron has a good home in Houston for the time being. As a transplant, I'm proud to welcome Ron to Houston. Hopefully I'll get a chance to see him play down here. In his season and a half in Sacramento he brought a lot of joy and a few headaches, but he's a great player.

Also, this is now Kevin Martin's time to shine. DO IT! No question now, this is his team to lead. And I'm pumped. It's time to be an All Star and it's time to KILL IT! The future is starting to look very bright in my opinion.

And lets not forget Jason Thompson. The kids a soon to be stud and I'm excited about the moves the Kings have made.

So goodbye Ron, from a Kings fan....you'll be missed in a way. And hello Ron, as a Houston transplant. It's humid as hell down here.

Weekend in Review - Update

Rockets get win #22 in a row. If you are even remotely a basketball fan, this should be huge. And if you're from H-Town, this should also be huge. This is the second longest winning streak in the history of the NBA, behind the Lakers 1971-1972 streak of 33 games. You gotta think they won't make it to 33, but nonetheless the team is on FIRE.

Also, while taking the game in at the bar, and between a pound of crawfish and a Philly Cheesesteak and fries, I looked up to hear a table cheering. Apparently this is what had just happened:


Also insane. Tiger has played three events [update: he's actually played four events including this one: Buick Invitational, Dubai Desert Classic, The WGC Matchplay Classic, and now the Arnold Palmer Invitational) this year and has won all of them. But none have to be better than this one. A monster 25 foot putt after he hadn't sunk one longer than 18'10" all week. Golf is by far the hardest sport I have ever played. And Tiger is a true athlete (the guy benches over 300lbs!). Gotta tip your hat to this kind of dominance.
