SNL Season Premiere is tonight. Kind of excited. The fact that Megan (the) Fox is hosting doesn't hurt either. Although I could do without U2. YEAH, I SAID IT.
So with that said, here's a clip of Justin Timberlake. This still cracks me up.

Jaydiohead - Wrong Prayer
I've been stewing on this for a while. Usually not into mashups, but this just flows. Jay-Z and Radiohead. Hipsters probably had a heart attack when this dropped.

Healthcare Reform
I will not open the debate on here about healthcare reform. Mainly because half of the people that read this blog and I will disagree on this subject. So instead, I'll just post this video, which I think is funny. Don't read into it too much.
Atmosphere - Like the Rest of Us
Ant kills it with the piano sample.
I used to love Atmosphere. Somewhere along the way they lost my full interest. But nevertheless, they're still dope.

High Letdown Potential
I'm not sure how to feel about this. I feel like the letdown potential is pretty high. Then again, if I know that going in can I really be disappointed?

One of My Favorite Childhood Memories
Avery's blog post reminded me of one of my favorite childhood memories.
One night, as a family, we went out to dinner at Marie Calendar's. When we came out, a homeless lady asked my dad for change. Based on principle, my dad won't give change to the homeless because he doesn't want to support potential drinking or drug habits. Instead, my dad offered to buy her food from Carl's Jr. (which may or may not be known people in Texas).
She quickly accepted and went inside with my dad. I don't know why it took so long to leave, but as we were driving away I saw her get up and get a refill on her soda. I wondered how much that moment changed her life, or if it changed her life at all. I know it changed mine.
For some reason, that image has always stuck with me.

Nephew
RIP Roc Raida
Damn. I can still remember listening to the X-Ecutioners back in High School. X-Pressions was super ill.
"You think you nice?" "It's Roc Raida"
Busta broke the news.
Nah Right said it had something to do with complications from a mixed-martial arts accident.
Proof, the UFC and UFC-related fighting is lame and should be avoided...
RIP dude.

Wonder What Jason Schwartzman Thinks
Zoey Deschanel and Ben Gibbard got married.
Talk about a super-duper indie hookup.
Wonder if they'll do some duets or something as a solo project. I'd put money on it.
Zoey was super hot in Almost Famous. So, just based on that, I'm a little jealous of Ben Gibbard.

So Lately...
I've been thinking a lot about home.
For some reason, the Pacific Ave and Ben Holt intersection come to mind. I guess, to me, that's the center of town. I'd cross it every morning going to and from work. Every afternoon coming back from school. The bars are located around there, tower records, school, I used to skate around there....
So Pacific Ave and Ben Holt, five years or so removed from Sticktown, are visions of home.
Maybe because it's the area that changes the least. Sure, in the time since I've been gone Michael's relocated, Tower Records went bankrupt, Naughty Nicks turned into the Cameo Club....but aside from that, it's largely the same. And somehow, that makes me smile.
I've had thoughts about that area during the winter time (which is the primary time when I'm home). Wearing a sweater or a jacket (hey, I've been sweating it out during one of the hottest summers in Houston for a while now). Something is just so exciting about home.
Then again, I can only take being home for so long. It's cycle that happens every year. After a few weeks I get bored and can't wait to get home.
However, that doesn't mean I'm not looking forward to getting home, seeing the family, the dog, and seeing my friends. And lets not forget home cooked meals!
