A Moment Too Late

Today is the week of being behind (not that my whole life hasn't been spent being a little late on trends, appointments, etc.). But it seems to be particularly highlighted today.

Today was the day I read a recent Texas Supreme Court case. Of course yesterday was the day I was questioned (in an interview no less) about recent, interesting Texas Supreme Court decisions. Granted, I stumbled through a semi-reasoned answer, but today's reading would have helped yesterday's questioning.

Today is the day I read Texas case law relating to the Federal Arbitration Act (FAA). Of course Tuesday was the day I judged a moot court tournament dealing with the FAA and Texas law.

NOLA is a magical place. Granted, I've only been there twice, but I have very vivid and fond memories. There is a charm and a tremendous sense of pride throughout the city that is unparalleled by anywhere else I've been. And the food is quite amazing.

Ridiculous Crap

2.9 lbs of 14 karat gold and smothered in white and cognac diamonds. This is a necklace that the Boston Celtics' Marquis Daniels owns (it's a necklace of himself). And it's ridiculous. This takes the take for dumb, gaudy jewelery.

A reminder to be more Christ-like; a reminder that I've been called to follow Him. It's hard to walk the path of a believer at times. In fact, I think I'm a pretty poor representation of what a Christian should be. I allow myself to put other things first (law school anyone?). But in the times I have to reflect, I remember that I've been called for a higher purpose. It's just a matter of remembering that in all things that I do.

This show has long been off the air. Five seasons of inner-city America. Touching on everything from the idiosyncrasies of the police department to failures in the school system all the way to the death of the newspaper.

Season 1 is back On Demand for HBO. Yeah, I own the box set. Yeah, I've watched the entire series about 4 times. Yeah, I read blogs about the show looking for insight to this day. The Wire is something of an anomaly. Layers and layers of an intricate plot, coupled with insight into Baltimore - one of the cornerstone cities of the U.S.

I'll never get tired of this show.
