Matthew 5:14-16
You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and prasie your Father in Heaven. [NIV]
A reminder to be more Christ-like; a reminder that I've been called to follow Him. It's hard to walk the path of a believer at times. In fact, I think I'm a pretty poor representation of what a Christian should be. I allow myself to put other things first (law school anyone?). But in the times I have to reflect, I remember that I've been called for a higher purpose. It's just a matter of remembering that in all things that I do.

Remember the Greatest
"If I said it, I meant it / bite my tongue for no one / call me evil, or unbelievable" - Notorious BIG
Remember the King of NY. How can his murder (and Tupac's) still be unsolved?!

The Wire
Season 1 is back On Demand for HBO. Yeah, I own the box set. Yeah, I've watched the entire series about 4 times. Yeah, I read blogs about the show looking for insight to this day. The Wire is something of an anomaly. Layers and layers of an intricate plot, coupled with insight into Baltimore - one of the cornerstone cities of the U.S.
I'll never get tired of this show.

Stockton is Moving Up; Now With Video
Last year, Stockton was the most miserable city in America according to Forbes. Well, that statement is true no longer. Now Stockton is only the second most miserable city in America. Wooohooo. And the city's government is working hard to give it a makeover. Peep the video.
Look, I love Stockton. It's my home, and it always will be deep down. It's where the people I care about the most are, it's where my youth was spent, it's a place I will always fondly look back upon. Absent extenuating circumstances, I'm never going back, but that's not the point. I really never thought it was that bad, but then again when I was home my dad's car was broken into while in the driveway and no one was really in shock (particularly because my car had once been broken into 3 times (once in the driveway), and his car had previously been broken into in the driveway and in front of the house.
So yeah, Stockton kind of is a dump, but it's my dump. And sometimes, I miss it terribly.

A Wag of the Finger
I knew this day would come. A day when I'd have to criticize a player that I truly enjoy and root for.
For shame Mr. Manning. Rather than congratulating the other team, Peyton elected to go the route of Lebron, Tom Brady, or Bill Belichick and walk off the field rather than congratulating the Saints on their first Super Bowl victory. I will not apologize for that behavior. I chastised Lebron and I chastized Brady and Belichick for such behavior. You look like a poor sport. Respect the game and go congratulate the other side. They played a better game. All around. Period.
Ughhhh it pains me to write this.
