Jay-Z - Empire State of Mind f/ Alicia Keys

The keys in this beat are so so ill.

And Alicia Keys hits the notes to perfection.

Something about this gets me every time I blast it when coming home from the library at midnight. Dark and quiet, it's downtown Houston. And something seems so magical about it.

Jaydiohead - Wrong Prayer

I've been stewing on this for a while. Usually not into mashups, but this just flows. Jay-Z and Radiohead. Hipsters probably had a heart attack when this dropped.

Ummm...Did this Really Happen?

Considering I liked the original song...I kind of like Mr. Hudson's rendition....but this is a straight rip off isn't it? And Jay is just coming with zero fire.

Really though, why is Jay-Z suddenly dominating this blog?

How Un-Ill Jay-Z Can Be

I listened to Haters f/ Kanye West of the Blueprint 3. It's particularly awful.

Kanye comes super lazy, Jay-Z....even lazier. And the beat is garbage.

Maybe I'll change my mind down the road (things generally have to grow on me). But as of right now, really not feeling this song.

Just reminds me how great the Black Album really was. So concise. So dope.

You can hear the whole album here.

How Ill Jay-Z Can Be

Sometimes I forget. Especially considering Kingdom Come was not a very stellar album. Still, it had its gems.

If This is the New Trend, I'm Poking My Eyes Out

Click on the pic to see what I'm talking about.

Utterly disgusting Jay-Z. That's not style, swagger, or anything resembling either of those two words. That's what happens when you close your eyes, pound on the keyboard, click a few times, and have your assistant enter your credit card and shipping address. Or if a 5 year old decided to dress you.

Jockin Jay-Z

BLUEPRINT 3 from kwest on Vimeo.

At Rock the Bells, Kanye premiered a new beat. And then out comes Jay-Z.

Also, hints at Blueprint 3.

The beat is actually pretty dope, albeit stripped down, and really minimal. But Kanye keeps making hits. I think it's been about 6 or 7 years since College Dropout dropped.....and he has yet to really disappoint.

We'll keep an eye out.
