Simple, but I really like the beat. Thanks "shuffle" in iTunes.

I'm Just Tired

What an odd movie. It all needs a moment to settle. But I can't help but feel a bit of hopelessness from watching this. Zooey Deschanel's character symbolizes my disdain for women at this point in my life. Beautiful, yet manipulative. A care-free spirit, but ultimately a hypocrite who has her own beliefs proved wrong.

And the protagonist realizes how stupid his idealistic attitude is is. And his realization is aptly attributed: blaming movies, greeting cards, and pop songs for making him a hopeless romantic; ultimately he feels lied to. Parts of the movie seem so analogous to life, although I won't go in to much detail.

"I'm just tired" is the excuse she utters before she's about to break up with him. It's like the saying is two-fold. Not only because she probably uses that as an excuse (which I can relate to), but also because she was tired. Tired of suffering through their relationship.

"You can't ascribe cosmic significance to a simple earthly event. Coincidence. That's all anything ever is. Nothing more than coincidence." The counter-point to those who believe in fate. At least with the little things.

By the way, the soundtrack was pretty awesome.

The Panda Award Goes To . . .

Tonight, amongst other members of the journal, I was honored with this award.
Yes, the award for "Animal Magnetism." I don't even know what that means, but I sure am proud. And the Panda looks pretty cool!

The Song, The Cinematography, The Skateboarding

I've always kept up with skateboarding. There's a part of it that has remained in my heart. Some of the best times in my life were spent skating. But who am I kidding, that was forever-and-a-day ago. Still, lately I've been thinking about getting a board again just to cruise around and get out of the house.

Huf put out this little diddy to Tony Bennett's "Left My Heart in San Francisco." It definitely fuels that fire.

This Bill is a Big Deal

Language is a little crude, but it's funny.

Still haven't read the language of the Health Care Bill, and thus I'm not sure of what the overall implications are (let's face it, you have to accept the media's interpretation as being at least somewhat biased and somewhat unreliable).

A Moment Too Late

Today is the week of being behind (not that my whole life hasn't been spent being a little late on trends, appointments, etc.). But it seems to be particularly highlighted today.

Today was the day I read a recent Texas Supreme Court case. Of course yesterday was the day I was questioned (in an interview no less) about recent, interesting Texas Supreme Court decisions. Granted, I stumbled through a semi-reasoned answer, but today's reading would have helped yesterday's questioning.

Today is the day I read Texas case law relating to the Federal Arbitration Act (FAA). Of course Tuesday was the day I judged a moot court tournament dealing with the FAA and Texas law.

Murphy's Law in full effect in my life.
