Shaking My Head (SMH)

Oh KFC, you tried to reinvent yourself with the whole "Taste the Grilled Side" or whatever it was. Then you came out with this:
Two fried chicken fillets. Bacon. Two types of cheese. Amazing...ly unhealthy. 540 Calories. 32 grams of fat. 1380 mg of sodium. I'm not much of a label reader, but come on KFC. What gives? Oh, wait, have no fear. They've got the grilled version. Only 460 calories, 23 grams of fat and somehow it has 1430 mg of sodium.

Way to go KFC. You almost reinvented yourself. Almost.

Wolfmother - Vagabond

Alias - Dying to Stay

This song reminds me of "better" days. My buddy JJ used to live in San Francisco and was always down to let me crash on his couch and catch shows. He put me on to Alias (and of course the Anticon conglomerate). I still love their music from the early 2000s - they had the best drums.

Marlena Shaw - California Soul

Glue - In Between Her

Simple, but I really like the beat. Thanks "shuffle" in iTunes.

I'm Just Tired

What an odd movie. It all needs a moment to settle. But I can't help but feel a bit of hopelessness from watching this. Zooey Deschanel's character symbolizes my disdain for women at this point in my life. Beautiful, yet manipulative. A care-free spirit, but ultimately a hypocrite who has her own beliefs proved wrong.

And the protagonist realizes how stupid his idealistic attitude is is. And his realization is aptly attributed: blaming movies, greeting cards, and pop songs for making him a hopeless romantic; ultimately he feels lied to. Parts of the movie seem so analogous to life, although I won't go in to much detail.

"I'm just tired" is the excuse she utters before she's about to break up with him. It's like the saying is two-fold. Not only because she probably uses that as an excuse (which I can relate to), but also because she was tired. Tired of suffering through their relationship.

"You can't ascribe cosmic significance to a simple earthly event. Coincidence. That's all anything ever is. Nothing more than coincidence." The counter-point to those who believe in fate. At least with the little things.

By the way, the soundtrack was pretty awesome.
