ass. I've always had mixed feelings about Shaq. First, he called the Sacramento Kings the Queens. And he's quite egotistical. But then he does a lot of good things. he payed for George Mikan's funeral after the former Laker great passed away. He dedicates his spare time law enforcement. And he does other charitable things.
But then he also calls him self "the Great Aristotle," "the Big Sewer," and is a big Superman fan even having the 'S' logo tattooed on himself and embroidered on upholstery in his cars. And I think he even had a pool or basketball court with the logo on it. And he looks kind of retarded sometimes.
His words were obnoxious when he joined the Suns. And most recently, he called out his former teammates on the Heat (see link above), particularly naming Ricky Davis and Chris Quinn. Now I can kind of understand Davis, as he is a pretty selfish, non-teammate kind of guy, but what did Chris Quinn do to Shaq. More likely, Shaq felt that Riley did not have enough talent on the team in order for the team to be good. So instead, he just sat and faked injury after injury, perhaps cheating the Miami Fans out of the money they paid to see the team play.
Shaq, the guy who pretends to be such a great teammate, really isn't a great teammate. He was rarely ever in shape while in Miami, preferring instead to take the path of cruise control and half-hearted play in the vein of a man imitating the entire San Antonio Spurs team. He was conserving everything for the playoffs which were to never come. And this is Shaq. A guy who values himself so much, he doesn't work hard to be there for his team in the regular season. And then that same guy has the nerve to call his own team out. Let's not forget that money that could be spent in free agency went to two blocks of the team: you and Dwayne Wade. And while Wade was legitimately injured, you managed to get back out and play for the Suns almost immediately after being traded.
In the end, I'll say that Shaq is a better-than-average human being off the court. But on the court? The guy is a self-aggrandizing jack ass who should keep his mouth shut unless he's breathing from running up and down the floor.
