The last few weekends have been low-key. I kind of wanted to go out tonight, but I kind of didn't. And I didn't feel like perusing through my phone book to make plans and spend money I shouldn't be spending. I used to look forward to going out, but instead tonight, I'm staying in, and watching the best cable channels have to offer....which happens to be Lethal Weapon 2. Funny how dated this movie looks now.
Got a quick workout in the gym, and also talked to Sly from back home before I went in. The house is quiet. I've got two USA basketball games to watch, but I don't feel like it. I'm enjoying solitude I suppose. I should do some trial work. Right now, chicken is baking in the toaster oven (trying a cilantro and onion concoction out; 4 slits in the chicken stuffing cilantro and minced onions in.....I guess the idea sounded better in my head). My only company are my thoughts, the TV, and the internet. I really can't complain. Sometimes, you just need to be alone and rest. Not that I've been doing a whole lot lately, but I just feel exhausted.
Update: now I'm trying to watch High Fidelity instead. I've only seen bits and pieces, but the movie seems to fit the mood of the night.

Generation Kill - Third Impression
There have now been three episodes of the Generation Kill miniseries. It started off with your normal introductory episode, a tad on the boring sign, but entertaining nevertheless. Episodes two and three were awesome. Hopefully you have access to HBO. It's DEFINITELY worth watching and you can always catch up via On Demand.
And for those of you who have been watching, this is a MUST READ. All of the confusing acronyms and Marine-slang are broken down. In addition, Humvee lists providing the names and pictures of all occupants, as well as a chain of command pdf are available. Definitely a very helpful website providing numerous companion documents.

Hasta Luego Ron, Hola Ron
As a Kings fan, I now have to say goodbye to Ron Artest. Good trade, so long as we get Donte Greene in the deal (can't say for sure until mid-August when he can actually be traded according to the Collective Bargaining Agreement). Greene was a madman in Summer League, going off in one game for 40 points (2 shy of the summer league record). He was good in Syracuse and will be a great addition to the rebuilding of the Kings. We also got Bobby Jackson back, albeit as a shadow of his former self who had won the sixth man of the year. He'll give consistent minutes as a backup and allows Bobby Brown and Sean Singletary to learn the ropes a bit slower. We also get a first round pick next year (which could serve as a trade piece, considering it will be a low pick if Houston plays anywhere near its new potential).
And Ron has a good home in Houston for the time being. As a transplant, I'm proud to welcome Ron to Houston. Hopefully I'll get a chance to see him play down here. In his season and a half in Sacramento he brought a lot of joy and a few headaches, but he's a great player.
Also, this is now Kevin Martin's time to shine. DO IT! No question now, this is his team to lead. And I'm pumped. It's time to be an All Star and it's time to KILL IT! The future is starting to look very bright in my opinion.
And lets not forget Jason Thompson. The kids a soon to be stud and I'm excited about the moves the Kings have made.
So goodbye Ron, from a Kings fan....you'll be missed in a way. And hello Ron, as a Houston transplant. It's humid as hell down here.
Sactownroyalty has a good post on a goodbye to Ron. Enjoy kids. I'm pumped for the new season.

Top 50, Bit by Shark
If I was less lazy, I'd make a list of the top 50 celebrities I'd like to get bit by a shark (bit, not killed). On that list, Ryan Seacrest would be somewhere between #5 and #15. And every day, I'd hope he'd get bit along with the 49 other celebrities.
Well, my dreams came true. Ryan Seacrest got bit by a shark. And he made my day in the process. So, I salute your misfortune Mr. Seacrest. Unfortunately the rest of your life seems to be great, you talentless hack......
Ironically, it's also Shark Week on the Discovery Channel.

The Japanese Office
Thanks for sending me this Brooke.
This is kind of funny. The characters actually look pretty close to their American counterparts.....
And Ricky Gervais' last comment at the end of the video is hilarious.
