The inventor of the Egg McMuffin has died. Thankfully, the word "McMuffin" is caught by spell check, indicating that McDonald's has not completely overtaken our society. Academia prevails. But I digress.
Herb Patterson, who invented the McMuffin in 1972, was a huge fan of eggs Benedict and created the sandwich as a way to introduce breakfast at McDonald's. I salute this man, although I don't prefer his original creation, egg, cheese, Canadian bacon, on a buttered English muffin. Instead, I prefer the sandwich that has the sausage on it. Yes, blasphemy, I know, as I am partly Canadian (seriously, I am. My mom was born in Canadia, AKA America Jr. I'm not hearing anything you say against this, I'm half Canadian...or something like that), but seriously, the sausage egg McMuffin is much better. Also, because of Patterson, we have access to a great breakfast menu including hash browns (the best), breakfast burritos (ehh), pancakes, and other stuff I can't recall right now.
Herb Patterson, I salute you, and in your honor I'm getting McDonald's breakfast in the morning. That is if I can wake up before it opens.
If I can contribute something as valuable to society as a McMuffin in my life, it will all be worth it.
