My friend Jayson (whom I often simply refer to as my "cousin") recently celebrated his ninth (!!!!) wedding anniversary. Congratulations are definitely in order for that. Although I only see him a few times a year now (and it's totally my fault) I always notice how happy he and the family are. And in the day and age of quick marriages and even quicker divorces, it's great to see true values prevailing over the darkness of our society.
I met Jayson at least 11 years ago. I'm not sure exactly when it was, but I remember how cool I thought he was (he still is). He had the ultimate bachelor pad complete with a Playstation, a bunch of Nerf toys, and a pool table. He was 30-something years old, ran his own business, and was just genuinely fun to hang out with. He quickly became a good family friend and I was later in the aforementioned wedding.
Since then, we've both grown. He into a husband, and I into a student. He no longer has all of the Nerf toys, and his house isn't a bachelor pad anymore, but it's still a cool place to go. Anyway, here we are, many years later, and it's good to see him and his family doing so well. Congratulations! And, in honor of him adding me to his blog roll, welcome to mine.
[note: I call him my cousin because we have the same last name. In Chinese culture you are most likely a distant relative when you share the same last name. And since both of our families live in Stockton (hooray smog, crime, and illiteracy) I figure he's a distant cousin or something, hence the reason I call him cousin. Way to state the obvious....].
