Avery's blog post reminded me of one of my favorite childhood memories.
One night, as a family, we went out to dinner at Marie Calendar's. When we came out, a homeless lady asked my dad for change. Based on principle, my dad won't give change to the homeless because he doesn't want to support potential drinking or drug habits. Instead, my dad offered to buy her food from Carl's Jr. (which may or may not be known people in Texas).
She quickly accepted and went inside with my dad. I don't know why it took so long to leave, but as we were driving away I saw her get up and get a refill on her soda. I wondered how much that moment changed her life, or if it changed her life at all. I know it changed mine.
For some reason, that image has always stuck with me.

I would imagine she was truly grateful to your father for doing that- and even if it didn't change her life, it obviously impacted yours.
