Funny how willing we are to dismiss comments made by representatives of our own party, yet we are quick to attack the other side.
One standard for our own, another for the opposition.
Funny how we claim that Jamie Lynn Spears is someone who should be chastised for what she did because her face was all over Disney, and therefore she is a role model and deserves to be scolded for her decisions.
But when it's a VP nominee's daughter, well that's just great. A real American family, facing real American problems. Ummm, you know, the potential VP's family isn't a role model. They're not in the constant spotlight of the media...Hey little girl, it's okay if your the VP's daughter to have a child out of wedlock. But heaven forbid if you're a quasi-celebrity. Double standard? what's that?
Funny how we think it's so intrusive to follow around the VP nominee's family with a microscope. After all, that particular VP might become one of the most important people in the world. But it's okay to have 1.5 billion magazines, tabloids, newspapers, and television shows following around celebrities that mean nothing.
Funny how a slip of the tongue using the word "Muslim" can be skewed as something so horrible, something so despicable, something so telling about a man, whereas a guy who "served" this country for 8 years as the president got more speeches wrong than right. (see this). Maybe the former is marketed as a good speaker, but the latter can't make good decisions and can't even read a teleprompter, or master the English language (the only language he speaks mind you).
Funny how we think surviving in a prison camp translates to something that makes a good president. Funny how that was over 40 years ago. Funny how he's a borderline geriatric and could basically die while in office, leaving it to someone who is grossly unqualified to take over.
Funny how one potential candidate for the opposite isn't qualified enough when he was mayor of a fairly large city, then lieutenant governor, then governor, but being mayor of a town of 9,000, then governor for a year and some change is GREAT!
If we attack the other side, at least attack with consistency. But when you hold one side to one standard and then manipulate your stance to favor your side....well that has a name...I can't remember what it is....what's it called....oh yeah. HYPOCRISY. If you pledge consistency, stability, change....well give it to us. If you can't demonstrate it in your views, in your stance, in your campaign....well what are we to expect?
Yes, both parties are guilty of it. But I'm tired of the biased media both left and right casting stone; the pot calling the kettle black. I'm sick of being called a Kool-Aid drinker by someone who drinks it by the gallon. You call for fair and balanced, but you preach it about as well as Fox News or CNN.
And yeah, I'm glad Olbermann and Matthews and their extreme bias are gone. It's not journalism, it's subjective observations (and that's putting it mildly). Now only if the other networks could do something....

Put the Kool-aid down Dave. Sarah Palin boiled down is who we all want to be. An ordinary person through extraordinary circumstances has the opportunity to move from the PTA to the Vice Presidency of the United States of America. That is the essence of America, isn't it? The Dream is still alive. It happens to be alive this time for one of America's daughters not sons, but the notion that you can be anything that you want to be lives on.
Jamie Lynn is not a double standard. The clip of O'Reiley was not taken in the context of the issue. The Spears already had one highly, if not the highest, visible daughter basically melting down in front of the whole world. And then the underage daughter (Palin's daughter is not in the state of Alaska as well as older than Spears)who was at the time on Disney got pregnant. The aggregate of which lead to the comments in the No-Spin Zone.
I conceded the point that Rove was playing a politcal game as well as Morris. I think that we need to look at the facts as well but be honest about what we find. We all want to be "right" all the time, but we seldom are. I am sure that you love to live in your world of "shades of grey". But sometimes we have to be a Black and White world. Chose your side and live with it. Base your decisions on facts (Bye, Olbermann.) and stand for something. Al Gore is trying to do something for the world. That in itself is a good thing. But the facts surrounding Global Warming are greatly debated. Putting U.S. companies under huge disadvantages while other nations continue to spew pollution into the atmosphere is ludicrious. The world is still lead by self interest, People! Wake up!
Oh, BTW, I misspoke today as well and called myself Mormon. Yep, that is right. I had brain freeze and it just slipped out. Right there in front of Father Frank I said, "I am so glad for my Mormon faith..." C'mon. Misspoke? On that? You want a guy named Barrack "Barry" Obama to be President who has been fighting for nineteen months to shed the "right wing conservative radio show conspiracy" label of Muslim to be President? I would have cut my tongue out before that would have "slipped" out. He must really be conflicted! Well, he doesn't seem to be much of a Christian anyway so hey if the Muslims want him they can have him! LOL! I can't believe how hard I am laughing right now for being so glib!
Furthermore, McCain's time in the prison camp speaks to me as he qualification to be Commander-In-Chief. Military service. Check! He is the only one to see combat and the true cost of war. So, you think that somehow it is being overplayed? Why don't you try being locked in a cell for five years? I think that is a sacrifice and that libreal thinkers and bloggers could at least appreciate that.
I concur that news, politics and entertainment are all somehow being jummbled up. But clearly you are not the average consumer of news. Try Slate.com, Salon.com, Factcheck.org, Politfact.com, Threatswatch.com. If you want commentary there is Huffington Post, Michelle Malkin...there is so many good non-traditional sources of information.
If you wanna Bash Bush, go ahead. That is your right as an American. Just remember that when I tell you that things about your beloved Barry. He wants to go to the UN Security Council to rein in Russia about Georgia?!? Russia holds veto power there. That is the foreign policy of a Harvard Alum, just like Good old George Bush. It may be okay to bash old George for being "intellectually challenged" and okay to tell Palin to stay in the kitchen, but mention that Barry is a Brother and look out. Funny, though, how Politically Incorrectness isn't a consideration while complaining about age. There are millions of seniors becoming a little agggravated by this "Old People" thing. "Funny how he's a borderline geriatric and could basically die while in office" A little harsh, but somehow okay.
What am I supposed to like about Obama/Biden? How does that ticket speak to me? They are both libreal thinkers and I am a conservative person. I am a God fearing, gun toting, "bitter" person. I cannot identify with the Democratic ticket on philosophical differences. I can respect McCain's service and I do see "change" in Palin. Gender "change" isn't as progressive as race "change" I guess regardless if the idealology is dangerous and irresponsible. Tell Barry to go back to Berlin. They seem to like him. Or Paris, there is Europe's largest Muslim population. They'll love him.
LOL! I am so satisfied with myself right now! If only the Raiders could somehow get better!
