Retrospective

A personal retrospective is on the way. But for now, a yahoo! retrospective will have to suffice.

Obama '08. I never thought I'd be writing these words, but he essentially sealed the deal. Now Clinton has few options left. But, she seems unwilling to concede. I guess time will tell. In talking amongst friends, there has been a myriad of feelings. Some think it's just a matter of time, I think she's trying to leverage something. I also tend to agree with my friend James, who thinks that she (and Bill) will attempt to undermine Obama, but she sees it as her only viable way to get into the White House in '12 or '16 (that would be CRAZY if he wins this year, and is re-elected, but lets not get too far ahead). It does far more for her than it likely does for him.

Regardless, this will be an interesting election season. I think McCain will come out swinging for the fences. Has anyone noticed his voice makes him sound like the guy selling Smuckers' Jam back in the day? But McCain has experience, and a ton of it, so that's a pretty sound platform. Thankfully their respective platforms are night and day. In 2008, America will decide where it will go for the long-term. Lets hope we make the right decision.

he does sound like the smuckers jam guy. i always thought he was secretly Casey Casem. if he gets elected, mark my words, there will be a top 40 countdown of all the reasons why we should continue the war in iraq.

"As I listen to him speak, he says he will not use religion as a wedge and patroitism as a bludegon...well, of course not, those are this weaknesses. That was pretty transparent. Then he began with the litany of impossible socialistic visions of a perfect changed America. Your new rights according to the new Democratic Presidential Candidate: the right to a college education, health care if you want it, make corporations (oil and energy) to invest in new technologies and the creation of new well paying jobs. Oh, as well as hiring an army of new well paid teachers and investment in infrastructure and science."

As the Democratic Party has in the last two Presidential Elections, they will choke again. Bush should have been handly defeat last time around. But somehow Demos trot out Kerry? WTF? Obama is a classic, Cut Off the Nose to Spite the Face stragteist. Over reacting and not finessing over to the left a little. Not tweeking the economic or war stragety but trashing everything and starting over. In theory that sometimes works, but in reality never. It didn't work in the "Godfather". Micheal sought to make his family legit and the past always pulled him back. You can kill all your enemies, but you don't know what will fill the void that your dead enemies have left behind.
And, BTW, if McCain wins, he will sound like Marlon Brando by the end of his first term!

oh the silence on your blog. the putrid, awful silence...remember that? Boston on the way home to the Championship. Tiger gimps his way into the US Open Championship.
