Now, I'm a Red Sox fans by all means. Yeah, I'm also a self-admitted bandwagon jumper as I really didn't care much for baseball from the mid-90s strike until the 2004 ALCS game where the Sox came back to destroy the Yankees. But upon moving to Massachusetts, I did notice how dumb a majority of the fans are. Most of them have seemingly forgot that their is life outside of sports and instead to dedicate the majority of their existence to wearing Red Sox clothing, talking about how great the Red Sox are, and being general proponents of the Sox even in the off season. Thus is the life of nutty fan. But fans rarely deter me from liking a team itself (but see the RAIDERS).
Sox fan sabotage
But the NY Post has a story about a Boston fan / construction worker possibly jinxing the new Yankee stadium by placing a Red Sox shirt in the concrete poured in the stadium. First, this guy is a true moron. Why put a Sox shirt under the VISITING team's locker room? Why not under the Yankee's locker room? Now, I'll admit, baseball players are the most superstitious of all the American athletes, but this is just purely stupid. Do you really think that a t-shirt will forever jinx a stadium? Maybe what will jinx them is all of the money spent on high profile players as opposed to developing a viable minor league system with players not named Joba Chamberlain? Second, is a jinx really news? Really? There is no scientific evidence that jinxes actually exist. Rather mere speculation, and mostly coincidence that is attributed to jinxes. Did the Sox really go without a World Series for so many years because there was a curse? No! They didn't win because winning a World Series is hard for teams to do (see Kansas City, Seattle, San Francisco, and any other team with an extensive drought of World Series victories or without a championship at all).
In summation. Both the construction worker and the NY Post should be beaten mercilessly. The construction worker for high-fiving himself in his mind for such a 'great' idea and the NY Post for posting a potential jinx as news.
